Appealing To Children, Functional For Adults
The Oregon Children's Outdoor Bill of Rights was created to give Oregon children an opportunity to experience the outdoors.
The design balancing act for Outdoor Seekers was to make sure it appealed to children with large colorful elements evoking the mysterious and adventurous world of the outdoors all while making sure it had strong and powerful functionality for the adults who would help the kids locate events.
Based on discovery meetings with the Outdoor Seekers program leaders from the Oregon Recreation and Parks Association, we developed a Web site that featured a strong content management system that allows for frequent event updates. We also built in a custom "Search Activities" form for site visitors to use to locate Outdoor Seekers-approved kids' activities. And, we integrated a Google map into the "Search Activities" form so that site visitors would have a geographic reference when planning the many outdoor activities we identified with Outdoor Seekers, such as boating, swimming, climbing trees, and walking barefoot on the beach. Multiple submission forms were created by A•VIBE to allow Outdoor Seekers' team to reply to sponsors' inquiries and other questions.
Oregon is a majestic and world-renowned go-to location for outdoor enthusiasts. A•VIBE was honored and thrilled to create the Outdoor Seekers Web site to share with families the many outdoor treasure that our state has to offer.
